Conferences

The Commission on Legal Pluralism participates in the five-yearly world conferences of IUAES and organizes additional international conferences every two to three years. Conferences are organized in diverse regions to allow for a maximum of participation from around the world. While the thematic concerns of the CLP have shown considerable continuity, new themes have been added as they emerged in the increasingly complex legal world. Central themes include property, indigenous and minority rights, human rights, environment, transnational law and intervention of international organizations, gender issues, religion, migration, and governance. More recently the intersection of legal pluralism with science and technology and with tenets of faith, and the ever changing schemes of profit making, propertization and commodification, as well as 'securitizing' and 'auditizing' have been added to the agenda.
